Speech Pathology for Adults

Kirsten Toll and Emerald Runting together have over 35 years of continous experience in providing comprehensive treatment for adults with communication and swallowing disorders, most often associated with stroke, acquired brain injuries and progressive neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, MND and dementia.
Referrals are accepted for the treatment and management of the following conditions:
  • Aphasia (difficulty thinking of words and formulating sentences, saying the wrong word and/or difficulty understanding others). This can affect reading and writing skills in the same way.
  • Dyspraxia (problems coordinating the movements involved in speech production)
  • Dysarthria (slurred speech due to muscle weakness)
  • Cognitive communication difficulties such as difficulty organising what to say, slow to understand what is being said, difficulty coming up with ideas or understanding/accepting another person’s point of view.
  • Speech, voice and swallowing difficulties associated with Parkinson's disease (Licensed providers of the Speak OUT! Program)
  • Voice Disorders such as a whispery, hoarse or strained voice.
  • Dysphagia involving general swallowing management and review.
  • AAC Assessment (Assessment for Alternative Augmentative Communication Device use)
